Appositive dan Present Participle

A. Appositive 

Appositive merupakan kata atau frasa yang berfungsi menjelaskan subject, noun/kata benda, atau kata ganti/pronoun yang mengikutinya. Biasanya appositive diapit oleh dua tanda koma. Contoh kalimat: 

1. My cat, Choco, will be waiting for me at the door when I get home. 

    Kata Choco di kalimat tersebut berfungsi memperjelas subject yaitu My cat. 

2. Agnes Monica, is one of best female singer in Indonesia, is preparing her concert in New Yok. 

    Kata is one of best female singer in Indonesia berfungsi memperjelas subjek yaitu Agnes Monica. 

3. An Indonesian novelist, Tere Liye, just released his first book in Januaary. 

    Tere Liye berfungsi memperjelas kata sebelumnya yitu an Indonesian novelist 

B. Present Participle  (Verb + ing) 

 

Present participle merupakan kata yang dibentuk dengan menambahkan akhiran -ing pada bentuk kata kerja dasarnya. Present participle memiliki 2 fungsi yaitu sebgai kata kerja dan sebagai kata sifat.

• Sebagai kata kerja, present particple digunkaan bersamaan dengan auxiliary verb dan to be. 
• Sebagai kata sifat, present participle digunakan lansgung saja (Ving) tanpa didahului auxiliary verb ataupun to be. Sebagai kata sifat, present participle berfungsi menerangkan noun/noun phrase di depannya. 

Contoh kalimat : 

 Past Participle sebagai kata kerja 
1. Jeha is staring at me right now. 

2. Those kids have been playing for three our at the playground 

3. My Mother will be working at the office. 

Past participle yang berfungsi sebagai kata sifat 

1. The man standing under the three is my husband. 

2. The interesting newspaper was published in July. 

3. The woman cooking here is the best chef in this restaurant.
